The Dyspraxia Support Group of New Zealand Inc. provides support, training, resources and information about Developmental Dyspraxia/Developmental Co-ordination Disorder. We support children, young adults and adults with Developmental Dyspraxia/Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, their family/whanau; caregivers; and professionals working in related field.
We have recently moved to our new premises. We are now operating from Room 11 at the former Kendal School site, 53 Kendal Avenue, Burnside, Christchurch. Our hours of operation do vary so please make contact before visiting us.

What is Dyspraxia?
Areas that may be affected
Clumsiness, difficulties with balance, coordination, quality of movement, slow to learn new skills (like walking, running, climbing, ball skills, riding a bike etc)
Difficulties with handwriting, recalling of information, following instructions, class and work routines, distractibility, expressing what they know, slow to learn the rules to games, problem solving, forming concepts, generating ideas, processing information
Frustration, anxiety, low self-esteem and social immaturity.
Speech and Language
Good comprehension but poor expressive language, difficulties with processing, sequencing ideas and words, sequencing of sounds and communicating.
Difficulties with dressing, eating, daily routines, toileting, changes in routines
Difficulties with the processing of any of their sensory systems—tactile (touch), vestibular (balance), auditory (hearing), visual, taste and smell.
